I was never a cat person growing up, but the outdoor felines always fascinated me. My sister was allergic to cats, so we never brought them inside, but my parents were heavy believers that any outdoor feline could keep the rats at bay. Truthfully, I would spend my afternoons in the yard, hanging out with the neighborhood cats that came by and most would be starved for attention. I'd gladly give it, enjoying every meowment with these ephemeral little beasts and noticing a kinship that was both unbreakable and unforgettable.
